What can I expect when I arrive?

You’ll most likely be greeted by Jean, our famously efficient and friendly receptionist who will have you fill out a brief personal-health history to let us know about any particular health issue or concerns, like past or present injuries, pain and other medical or physical conditions your therapist should know about. We’ll also ask your personal preferences like pressure and type of massage, and if you prefer to have your massage in silence.

Comfortable Private Rooms

You’ll then be taken to a spacious private room where a comfortably warmed table with freshly laundered sheets and a heavenly foam mattress await. Your therapist will leave the room so you can undress (if you are receiving a full body massage). For your convenience, there are hangers for your clothes, a comfortable chair, a shelf for personal belongings and terry cloth robes. You’ll then slip between the sheets of the massage table to await your therapist’s knock. When they enter, he or she will offer you a choice of soothing music, reconfirm your preferences, and answer any questions.  Then all you have to do is get ready to relax and be totally pampered!  For your comfort, you will always be draped with a top sheet during your massage, and blankets are available as well. Your therapist will only uncover the area they are working on and you will remain covered at all times.

Your therapist will want to make sure your massage is a truly relaxing experience, so be sure to let them know the stroke or pressure is to your liking, and if you prefer the music off, more blankets or water etc. Once your massage is finished, your therapist will offer you a warm towel to remove any excess cream or oil, and will then leave the room so you can get dressed.  He or she will wait for you outside and check that you had a good experience, offer you tea or water, and bring you to Jean, who can speed you through payment.

What if I prefer to wear my clothes?

There are some wonderfully relaxing options for those who prefer to remain clothed. Consider a Scalp Massage where all you have to remove are your shoes.  And if you’re comfortable taking off your socks as well, Reflexology offers another restorative option. For these, you’ll be shown to a private room, where you can slip off your shoes.

How long does a massage last?

When you book a 60 minute massage, your service will last a full hour. Some salons or spas charge for an hour, but actually only perform services for 50 minutes. At Rumson Therapeutic & Sports Massage Center you’ll always receive the full amount of time booked, whether it’s 30 minutes or 2 hours.

Can I book appointments in advance?

Call Jean if you want a particular time slot or therapist. We suggest you call as early as possible at (732)842-2555 to book one or more appointments in advance.

What kind of payment options are there?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, debit cards, personal checks and cash. Please note that as of October 1, 2006 all massage facilities are required to add a 7% tax onto our regular fees mandated by the State of NJ. See our list of hourly options and rates.

Can you accommodate couples who wish to share the experience?

We’ll be happy to book simultaneous appointments for couples in adjacent rooms.  This way you’ll each be able to enjoy your preferred style of massage in a private room with your own therapist.

Are Gift Certificates Available?

Gift certificates are available and make a perfect gift for any occasion.  They’re available in any amount, so you can offer one massage, or a series.  And if you’re purchasing a series of five or more services, you'll save $5 on each. Call Jean at the office (732) 842-2555 and she can have your certificates ready for pick up or mail them to you or your recipient.

What if I’m running late for my appointment?

We appreciate your prompt arrival, and you might even want to arrive a couple of minutes early if you are going to undress.  If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late, you’ll want to reschedule since treatments need to end on time so as not to inconvenience other clients, and you’ll want to receive the most benefit from your visit. Please call Jean at the office (732) 842-2555 if you are running late.
